The arrest came Monday, Feb. 11 after the incident occurred last fall.

State Troopers responded to a report of a fraudulent purchase that was made using counterfeit money in November of 2018. The victim tried to sell an Apple Watch to the subject, who allegedly completed the transaction using counterfeit $100 and $20 U.S. currency bills.

Further investigation using a possible first name of the subject led to the teen’s identification and arrest. The suspect was charged with possession of a forged instrument, a Class C felony, and petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor.

The teen was arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded by the Honorable Judge Sears to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. The subject is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
